After contemplating the Gator Box (6L) for several weeks, I began to rethink my "Go Box" design philosophy. It occurred to me that there might be an EXCESSIVE WEIGHT build up (anything over 25 pounds) of radios and other equipment using that box.
While an "all in one" box does sound nice, there is the tremendous effect of Gravity that must be overcome to move the box.

Thus the "2 GO BOX" concept was born.
- 1 "Go Box" for VHF/UHF Voice & Packet
- 1 "Go Box" for HF Voice & Packet

Here are some photos of the VHF/UHF Voice and Packet "Go Box".
- Please pardon the photography. I hope to have better photos soon.
- These photos were taken during the construction phase and several cables were left out to keep the pictures uncluttered.
- Missing (and yet to be installed): Foam padding on inside Top Lid and inside bottom of case for cushioning during transport.
- The 2 Radios and the TNC were purchased on the USED MARKET (mostly at Hamfests)
- The HamSource "EZ-Gate" & the West Mountain Radio "Rigrunner" were purchased NEW at Hamfests.
- The plywood and the MFJ Power Supply I already owned.
- Total Finished Weight: 23 pounds
- Total project cost: ~ $585

Pelican Case (Model 1500)

Case open with plywood base raised to the operating position for easy viewing of screens and increased airflow cooling. Again, Top Radio (Alinco) has been replaced with a Kenwood TM-V71a.

Top Down View of Component Layout, raised position.

Left Side
Close up of the 2 VFH/UHF radios
- Alinco on Top for Voice Comms. (Since Replaced with a Kenwood TM-V71a)
- Kenwood (an older single VFO display model) on bottom for Packet
- Note the use of 2 mobile mounting brackets bolted back to back.

Right Side
TOP: Kantronics KPC-3 Terminal Node Controller (TNC) for Packet Radio.
Bottom: MFJ Switching AC to DC power supply.

Top Down view of rear components
- Left Rear: EZ-Gate (DC UPS Switch and Battery Maintainer)
- Center: Rig Runner (Fused DC Power Distribution Block)
