"Core Proficiency" Workshop Series 2015
Seesion 1: Nets & Messages 101
Whether you are new to ARES or have been around for a while, these workshops are for YOU!
When "an event" occurs, and the stress is HIGH, that is NOT the time to be trying to learn new stuff or attempt to dredge skills up from foggy memory banks on how things work or what you need to do to be successful in your assignment.
This is a HANDS-ON, FULL PARTICIPATION workshop.
Fast paced, with information you NEED TO KNOW.
- Please come prepared with a pad of note paper and pens/pencils.
This first half of this session is dedicated to helping you understand:
- how a Net is supposed to work,
- how to run a Net,
- how to check-In on a Net,
- what the Net Control Station needs to do, and
- what operators who have "checked-In on the Net need to do.
You will also learn operating and organization techniques that will help you look and sound like a "Pro".
The second half of the morning is dedicated to Messages:
- how to create a standard NTS message Radiogram.
- how to send the message on the net
- how to receive and process the message,
- how to distribute the message to the Addressee
- how to maintain proper documentation of the messages.
This training workshop forms the foundation upon which everything else we will be doing this year, in subsequent Training workshops, is based.
