Operating Hint of the Week
AVOID using the phrase: "LATE CHECK-IN"
If, for some reason, you happen to miss your assigned window to Check-In to a Net, and have to wait until the end when the general call for "Other Stations" is made, please realize that the Net Control Station (NCS) is a genius.
- He already KNOWS that you are "LATE" when you Check-In to the Net at that point.
For a Non Emergency/Non Priority Check-In, just say:
"This is, KZ9ZZZ, First Name, QTH, Power Source Type, No Traffic (or Traffic)."
- and wait to be recognized.
WHY?
The inclusion of the words "LATE CHECK-IN" adds "confusion and delay" to the Net.
It changes the standard sequence of requested information, adds to your transmission time, distracts the NCS operator adn everyone else, sets a bad example for newly licensed operators and, perhaps worst of all, adds absolutley no value to the transmission.
