This is an exercise. This is an exercise. This is an exercise.

Current forecasts place the state of Connecticut at considerable risk for a severe winter storm on Wednesday and Thursday, 19-20 June 2013 (Simulated dates are 6-7 November 2013).

There is the possibility of widespread power outages and disruption of communications systems from this storm. Significant icing in Region 5 is likely.

I am placing CT ARES at a Level 1 Alert effective 2100 this evening, Tuesday, 18 June 2013 (Simulated date is 5 November 2013).

Please ensure you and your equipment are prepared to assist our Served Agencies if requested. Continue to monitor your normal weather forecast sources.

Report your readiness status and availability to your Regional District Emergency Coordinator (DEC). Do NOT deploy unless given specific direction from your DEC.

Exercise - Alert - CT ARES Level 3 Deploy
This is an exercise.
This is an exercise.
This is an exercise.

As a consequence of the current severe winter storm, the state of Connecticut is experiencing widespread power outages and disruption of communications systems.

Significant icing, particularly in Litchfield County (Region 5), has been especially damaging to power lines and communications infrastructure.

I am raising the CT ARES Alert status to Level 3 Deploy effective at 0800, Thursday, 20 June 2013 [Simulated date is 7 November 2013].

All CT ARES members should monitor/participate in the Tactical and/or Resource Nets in their respective Regions.

The KB1AEV linked repeater system will be used for coordination between CT ARES Leadership Officials (SM, SEC, ASECs, DECs, ADECs).

The Region 4 ARES Mobile Communications Unit (MCU4) is being deployed to Torrington (Region 5) as requested by CT DEMHS and CT DPH.

Please ensure you and your equipment are prepared to assist our Served Agencies if requested.

Report your readiness status and availability to your Regional District Emergency Coordinator (DEC).

Remember - do NOT deploy unless given specific direction from your DEC.

Exercise - Alert - CT ARES - Level 0 Inactive

This is an exercise.

The statewide EPPI Exercise for 20 June 2013 has been completed.

Most of the DEMHS Regional Offices were staffed with amateur radio operators, as was the State EOC. A noteworthy number of municipal EOCs were also staffed.

My thanx to all amateurs who participated in support of this effort!

In particular, I want to thank Bill W1GTT for deploying the Region 4 Mobile Comms Unit to Charlotte-Hungerford Hospital in Torrington for the exercise!

We will be compiling a list of all the Amateur Radio activities that supported this exercise and sharing it with the exercise planners.

The CT ARES Alert status is changed to Level 0 Inactive effective at 1400, Thursday, 20 June 2013.
