We are looking for ARES Team Members, with a strong desire to serve their community, to be the point person for CT ARES in the town where they live
- You will be the local CT ARES contact for your town's Emergency Management Director (EMD), and the coordinator of ARES activities providing auxiliary communications in your community .

OVERVIEW

The ARRL Emergency Coordinator is a key team player in ARES on the local emergency scene.
Consulting with the Zone EC (backed up by the Area EC and District EC), the Town EC prepares for and engages in management of communications needs in disasters.

Working with the local Zone Emergency Coordinator, as a Town EC your primary role will be to:
a) Identify and recruit a local ham to be your Assistant EC.
b) Establish and maintain a working relationship with the Town Emergency Management Director (EMD) or his designee,
c) Identify and Recruit hams in your town for your ARES Team
d) Develop an ARES Team of "Trained - Active - Ready" ham residents in your town.
e) Promote and Coordinate CT ARES-Region 2 initiatives with your ARES Team.
g) Be a back-up for other ECs in your Zone due to illness, travel, etc.

As part of the CT ARES - Region 2 Leadership Team, you will be expected to participate in:
- the weekly Region 2 "Ready Net" (Monday evenings)
- the weekly "Section Emergency Coordinator Net" (Sunday evenings)
- the annual ARES Simulated Emergency Test (SET)
- the annual CT DEMHS Statewide EPPI (as appropriate)
- periodic Region 2 ARES Leadership meetings
- periodic CT ARES Leadership meetings
- scheduled Region 2 Training Workshops

Qualifications:
- A strong desire to support and help develop ARES activities in your Town / City.
- Current membership in the ARRL
- A Technician License (or higher)
- “CORE 4” Certified

Additional training to be completed"
- “Introduction to Public Service Communications” (ARRL EC-001)
- "Public Service and Emergency Communications Management for Radio Amateurs Course (ARRL EC-016)
- Additional FEMA ICS courses as specified
