Region 2 is divided into 7 Zones, spread across 3 Areas
We are looking for local ARES Team members to take on the position of
Zone Emergency Coordinator for their Zone.
- West 1,
- Central 1, Central 2, Central 3
- East 1, East 2
Working with the local Area Emergency Coordinator, as a Zone EC your primary role will be to:
a) Identify and recommend candidates for unfilled Town Emergency Coordinator positions in your Zone.
b) Be a support and resource for local Town ECs in your Zone.
c) Promote and coordinate CT ARES-Region 2 initiatives in your Zone.
d) Act as a reserve ARES contact person for Town Emergency Management Directors (EMDs) in your Zone,
if needed.
e) Be a back-up for other Zone ECs due to illness, travel, etc.
You will be expected to participate in:
- the weekly Region 2 "Ready Net" (Mondays)
- the weekly Section Emergency Coordinator Net (Sundays)
- the annual Simulated Emergency Test
- the annual CT DEMHS Statewide EPPI
- periodic Region 2 ARES Leadership meetings
- periodic CT ARES Leadership meetings
- Region 2 Training Workshops
Qualifications
- A strong desire to support ECs and help develop ARES activities in your
Zone.
- Current membership in the ARRL
- A Technician License (or higher)
- “CORE 4” Certified
- “Introduction to Emergency Communications” (ARRL EC-001)
(to be completed within first 6 months in position or prior).
