National Traffic System (NTS)
Briefly, this is a nation-wide system that enables formatted messages ("Traffic") to move up and down (as appropriate) through a hierarchy of impressively scheduled Nets for delivery to the addressee:
Local Net
Area Net
Regional Net
Trans Continental Net
Regional Net
Area Net
Local Net
Here in Region 2, we have access to two "LOCAL" VHF Nets, and one HF Net, and checking In to a "Traffic" Net will help you learn the NTS message format (the "Radiogram"), and give you practice at developing traffic handling skills.
You need
3 things to be successful:
1) A supply of
Radiograms
A printable Radiogram can be found at:
www.arrl.org/files/file/Public%20Service/RADIOGRAM-2011.pdf
2) A list of
ARL Numbers (the Short-cut/Short-Hand of Traffic Handling)
www.arrlmiss.org/arlmsg.PDF
3) Your
commitment to verbatim copying and moving the message.
The
PRIMARY VHF Net for Region 2 is:

Every Night, @ 2030 hrs (8:30 pm), this net operates over a linked repeater system with THREE REPEATERS.
