Among other things I do, I am an Adult Scout Leader with Troop 1 in Milford. I am also a registered Merit Badge Counselor for several different Merit Badges (including Radio) with the Connecticut Yankee Council.
Did you know that BSA has annual contest of its own?
It is called: “Jamboree On The Air” (JOTA)
It takes place on the 3rd weekend in October. (This year, that would be Oct 19-20).
Details at:
www.scouting.org/JOTA.aspx
You can be instrumental in getting Boy Scouts “On-The-Air” during this year’s JOTA weekend.
Note: While the contest is geared for HF, you can also do good work getting the boys On-The-Air using VHF/UHF repeater contacts. (Hint: Hey, Technicians! Jump on in!).
Now is a good time to make connections at the District level and see if they would like to participate in this year’s JOTA and have you bring your equipment to make that happen.
Region 2 spans portions of 3 BSA Councils, and 6 Districts within those Councils:
Connecticut Yankee Council
Districts: Wepawaug Valley, Light House, Sleeping Giant
