PSEs provide us the opportunity to test our gear, capabilities, and practice our skills in a typically low stress environment (“Blue Sky”) as we prepare for Real World events (Black Sky).
Your Personal Goal: 3 PSEs (or more) each year.
Your participation, among other things:
- makes our ability to support these events possible
- "field tests" your equipment
- provides you the opportunity to practice your skills
- gets you actively involved with other ARES Team members.
- encourages you to plan out and organize your "GO BOX" (etc.)
- adds to the public VISIBILITY of ARES
- creates "good will" in the community
- Reminds public officials that ARES is viable resource.
You can be sure that your involvement is appreciated on more than just one level.
** Attire
Always wear your ARES Deployment Vest and Cap for Recognition and YOUR PERSONAL Safety.

“We are NOT in Kansas!”
In most cases, due to Connecticut topography, you will fail to successfully communicate if you rely on a 5 watt HT.
You need
MORE POWER.
Use a Mobil Radio (or add an amp. to the HT).
and
You need a
BETTER ANTENNA
That Rubber Duck antenna, that came with your HT, is an RF Attenuator.
